America letter # 19. Spring.
May 4, 2008
Dear friends,
It is spring! It has been for a while, but it is not that long ago that the last snow around Wartburg melted. Friday a “campus cleanup” was planned, to make it nice around here for graduation May 18. But Friday we had real spring weather, so the work outside was postponed. (The barbeque could be served inside though, so we enjoyed the thanks before the work.) The wonderful spring weather included at least three rounds of rain and thunder, where at least one round included horizontal rain and another hail. Yesterday it was wet in the morning, and wind the whole day. I was outside several hours, and did not understand how nice the weather had been until the evening when I discovered that I was sun burnt. Today we have nice weather again, and the result of today’s “campus cleanup” is more flowers and fewer dandelions in the flower beds. Dubuque has many trees blooming at this time. It is a beautiful town I will soon leave.
Spring greetings from Hanne.
